Sorozai, Versova
Misbah Kapadia, principal designer at Design Konstruct has channelled Goa’s susegad vibes at this Versova restaurant. Decorated with 3D murals, Mangalore roof, antique mirrors and vintage hardware fittings, Sorozai (soro is Konkani for alcohol and zai translates to ‘I want’) is a fun place to tuck into some Goan delicacies such as Ponnos Tostada, Bombilachem Tawa Crunch, Coastal Cottage Cheese Moilee and the signature Goan Sungtache Hooman. A 12-foot-long bar clad with Portuguese printed tiles dishes out novel cocktails. Do check out the PDR with cemented bench seating that feels like being in the patio of an old Goan home. The best seats are in the serene alfresco bound by a curved compound wall.

Lyla, BKC
This newest restaurant and cocktail bar by Chrome Asia Hospitality features a mix of native Indian, Afro-Latin and Spanish design accents, fused with pops of colour. A wooden island bar is the focal point in the 4,500-square-foot dining room punctuated by statement murals, relaxed seating and patterned flooring. Quirky lampshades, lacquered tables and artfully mismatched furniture make up some of the other design accents. There’s al fresco seating as well. The fun and chic Lyla makes for the perfect setting for tequila and mezcal drinks accompanied by California-style tacos, burritos, punchy ceviche, churros with a savoury twist and also sloppy burgers with Mexican flavours. Leave room for the Pina Colada Creme Brûlée and Tres Leches soaked in horchata milk.
